Construction to Resume on New North City Water Storage Tank

Construction activities on the North City Improvements Project Phase I will resume, depending on weather conditions.  Phase I of this project includes both construction of the new North City Tank and modifications to the existing Buffalo Ridge Tank. The new 6-million-gallon water storage tank is being constructed adjacent to the Buffalo Ridge Tank on Cheyenne’s north side and work is being performed by CB&I Storage Tank Solutions.

This project is a cost-effective alternative to multiple previously planned projects, including re-building existing tanks and rehabilitating a pump station.  Once completed, the new North City Tank will be over 100-feet high, 30-feet taller than the Buffalo Ridge Tank, and will replace the aging Round Top Tank. This project will improve the City’s water distribution system, increasing the level of service to customers in eastern Cheyenne while improving system resiliency.

The estimated $14.5 million project is funded through Wyoming Water Development Commission, Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and the American Rescue Plan Act. With the BOPU receiving $9.95 million total in grant funding, the new North City Improvement project comes at no increased cost to ratepayers.
